Archilles Not-Tendon

It’s always a pleasant surprise to find an enjoyable book by a heretofore unread author. Such is the case with Pushing Brilliance by Tim Tigner. This is the first in a 3-book series in which Kyle Archilles is the protagonist. In my reading queue are the follow-ups to Brilliance.

Kyle Archilles is a superhero. Meaning, abilities almost beyond believing and too good to be true. But . . . I like characters like this because 1) although few and far in between, there are in fact people with these kind of skills and morals, 2) they make for edge-of-your-seat reading, and 3) they almost always get a win for the good guys. Tigner makes the reader stretch his/her imagination, but fiction allows such . . . and for me it’s part of a titillating escape from the daily grind and the national news.

The Archilles genre is not for everybody, but if you’re up for a fast-moving action adventure with interesting plot turns and twists, I recommend giving Tigner a try.
